Serving those in need… with Food, Clothing, Medical and Educational Services that Encourage Independence
What We Do:
Family Rescue Center (FRC), formerly known as Rescate, is a 501 (c3) non-profit entity. We receive support from the West Valley Food Pantry, churches, some private foundations, service clubs and individuals. Our ministry is directed by a Board of Directors made up of men and women with a commitment to lift-up the poor and hungry.
FRC serves needy families and the homeless in the West Valley. The numbers we serve has more than tripled. As we continue growing, FRC will provide, at no cost to receiver:
- Food Distribution
- Secondhand Clothing
- Holiday Food & Toy Distribution
- Health Screenings
- Pastoral Counseling
- Referrals to other Service Agencies
In addition to distributing food and clothing to our registered client base, Family Rescue Center will be offering financial assistance for career training in the latter part of this year.
Special Events:
FRC has three big events yearly. They are the Back-To-School Drive (school supplies), Thanksgiving and Christmas events (holiday foods).
Brief History:
The Family Rescue Center, formerly known as Rescate, was started in 1998 to provide for the collection and distribution of food and clothing to low-income and homeless families. The work began in the predominately Hispanic community of Canoga Park, California. With a small volunteer base, it grew rapidly. Monetary donations began coming in. FRC was able to buy food for the increasing numbers of families at our doors. No one was turned away. From 2000 through 2010 the numbers served has grown from 400 to over 5,000 annually.
